THE BRIDE & GROOM

Tony was born and raised in Minnesota, the youngest of three. A lifelong lover of classic novels, he studied English literature at Augsburg College and even taught English for a year in South Korea. But somehow, life's unexpected twists and turns sent him down a path toward software development. Now he's reading James Joyce on his lunch breaks, while designing apps and debugging code with the rest of his day. Tony loves playing piano and collecting records, and he's working toward a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Meanwhile, all the way over in Door County, Wisconsin, Emma grew up the older of two kids in a small, friendly town along Lake Michigan. She moved to Minnesota to attend Macalester College and study history, and on to earn a masters in social work from the University of Minnesota. She's been working in social work for the last seven years, and is now a manager for a housing program at a non-profit in the Twin Cities. Between reading books and crafting with friends, Emma spends her time making granola and running along the Mississippi.

Emma and Tony met on a blind date in August of 2011, where they watched a pretentious movie outdoors in the park, discussed the books they loved, and hit it off splendidly. Two wonderful years later, while road tripping down the California coast on the Pacific Coast Highway, they hiked through the rugged hills of Big Sur to a secluded beach on the ocean. Tony surprised Emma with a proposal...and here we are!

THINGS TO DO AROUND TOWN

Annual May Day Parade May 5th *free*
We really recommend this parade! It’s organized by a local progressive puppet theater. We’ve gone every year, and we’ve seen sloths on skateboards, electric outlet imps, Aztec dancers, bike powered, flame-spurting monster trucks, living flowers, and all sorts of other interesting marchers. It’s a great way to get a taste of the funkier side of Minneapolis.
